LAKE ANNETTE Lake Annette was our first stop in the valley. It is about 3.5 miles in from the trailhead. We did not see a single person during our trek to the lake. By wearing bear bells, singing, and clapping all of the way, we were constantly on alert for Mr. Grizz. By the time we got to the lake we were starting to wonder if we should continue on the loop of the valley floor. After having a snack the lake, we were joined by a couple from Scotland. We discussed the bear and decided to join up for the hike....after all, four has to be safer than two. It was a false sense of security though, becasue the last group the bear stalked was six people strong. |
