Ride for Research & Escarpment Hike 2005 Ride for Research: On Sunday, May 15th, Team Views From The Top took part in The Brain Tumor Society's Ride for Research 2005. I had set a team goal of $5,000 for the ride, which is what we raised last year. With a few late donations that are coming in, it looks like we will hit the $7,000 mark!!! Being able to raise $2,000 more than last year is a great accomplishment for this site. I want to express my very sincere appreciation to all of the site readers, friends and family who donated to this event. I also want to give a special thank you to the team riders. You should be very proud knowing your contributions will fund research, provide support, information, and educational programs to patients, families, and professionals dealing with brain tumors. In addition to myself, the team riders were:
Escape the Escarpment Hike: On Saturday, May 21st, hikers from Views From The Top took part in an epic 24 mile hike in the Catskills called "Escape the Escarpment". Site member Jay Hui, organised the one day hike of the Escarpment Trail as a fund raiser for The Brain Tumor Society. This hike was a follow up to his very successful "Dare to Dayhike the Devil's Path" hike last year. Jay did an outstanding job organizing the event and everyone that participated did a great job getting people to sponsor them. The team of hikers raised $2250 for the Brain Tumor Society and some late donations are still coming in. The hikers and support volunteers were: Jay (Jay H), Dawn (hikethe115), Ed (Guiness), Carol (daxs), Rich (Papabear), Terri (TMax), Fred (Frytz), Ralph (Hermit), Adrian (Spongebob), Matt (Mcorsar), Jade, Jim B, Mary, Al (ajtiv), Dave, Brian and Seema (sli74), Aaron (askus3), Fred (Funkyfreddy), Margaret, Warren, Teejay, and Darren
Between the Ride for Research, Escarpment Hike, and decal sales, Views From The Top has raised nearly $10,000 for the Brain Tumor Society in 2005. Over the past four years, our total donations to the Brain Tumor Society have totaled nearly $23,000!!! As I have said before, "not bad for a bunch of hikers." Big thanks go out to everyone who biked, hiked, and donated! Together, we have helped make a difference. I hope to ride and hike with some of you next year!
