Trail: Branch Brook, Mattatuck, Jericho and Whitestone Cliff

Date Hiked: 6/9/07

Conditions: Branch Brook- unmarked but easy to follow from Rt 6 to Mattatuck. Mattatuck - Good with great rock scrambles. Jericho and Jericho/Whitestone Crossover - Good overall with some mud caused by ATV abuse. Whitestone Cliff - Rugged with extensive ATV abuse in places.

Special Required Equipment: Waterproof boots essential. Poles helpful. Bug dope nearly useless.

Comments: Did this as a 9 miles hike from Black Rock State Park to the Route 262 Whitestone Cliff trailhead. Not spectacular, but rugged in places with occasional views. Bugs out in full force. Also observed red eft newts in droves.
