Trail: Jeep trail to South Taconic Trail, Mt. Frissell, Brace Mt.

Date Hiked: 10/25/07

Conditions: Wet and covered with leaves; slippery in spots. Trails in good shape. No signage except on the South Taconic Trail.

Special Required Equipment: No special equipment needed but some might like poles going over the steeper and slippery spots.

Comments: Morning rain gave way to a warm, sunny day by the time we reached Brace for a leisurely lunch. Color just about gone. Good views though the Catskills were misty. Nice variety on this classic hike - views, tri-state monument, Ct. high point. Saw no one. Trailhead parking is at the first open area south of the Mass. line on the west side of East Street (dirt road) - look for the metal gate 30 or so feet back from the road and one sign that I think says there's no camping and its private property.
