Trail: M-M Trail: CT River to Harris Mtn Rd Date Hiked: Aug. 12 Conditions: Walking out across the flats to the Connecticut River from Route 47 was interesting... some of the grass and plants were over my head! For the most part, we followed the telephone wires before cutting across a field to avoid some briars to get to the river. The fields got our feet a little wet but weren't muddy or anything. Rest of the M&M Trail from Route 47 to Harris Mtn Road is well blazed and presents no navigation problems. Bugs were not really a problem, though there were a few mosquitoes about once dusk arrived. Special Required Equipment: A water cache left by Silent Cal at Route 116 was greatly appreciated and helpful -- no where to get water prior except at summit house. Comments: What a hot day. I thought this section was terrific... the Seven Sisters weren't as bad as I'd thought they be (ups and downs wise.) Lots of great views and wildflowers on this trek... this is definitely a section I'd hike again (okay, maybe on a cooler day.) The team: Dugan, Rocksnrolls, Silent Cal, Greenwood, Glenn and me. This was the third day hike in our northbound M&M trek. Submitted by: poison ivy & co. |
