Trail: Greylock via AT starting in Cheshire, ending at Rt. 2, Williamstown

Date Hiked: 9-10-07

Conditions: Trail is in good shape. A few blowdowns here and there, but nothing that you can't walk over. Lots of nice bog bridges! There is water at some of the streams closer to the summit along the AT.

Special Required Equipment: Raingear and a good attitude!

Comments: We hiked all day in the clouds, making the woods seem a bit dark and spooky. However, with the tree canopy, we didn't truly get rained on until the last hour out on the trail, just in time for the steep descent down to Rt. 2! The 8-mile climb up to Greylock from Cheshire was pretty mellow, and we enjoyed a quiet lunch on the summit. We could hear the road work a bit, and found some people doing some sort of work on wind/temperature (?) instruments near Bascom Lodge. Otherwise, we had the place, and the whole trail, to ourselves! Can't imagine why?! :-) As we reached Rt. 2, we officially finished at AT in MA! Yeah!
