Trail: Mount Greylock via Roaring Brook Trail, ect. Date Hiked: 10/21/07 Conditions: We noted a few blown-down trees, especially at low elevations. It was wet and muddy along the route toward the top. The trails were otherwise in outstanding shape. It was a warm day, although after the sun set it actually got chilly enough that you might even think autumn would soon be here. Special Required Equipment: None, except standard three-season day hiking stuff. My partner forgot her headlamp; fortunately I had a spare flashlight for her. Comments: We arrived late in the afternoon and raced sunset to the summit and back down, finishing in the fading twilight. The hike took about two and three-quarters hours--much too fast to appreciate the mountain. Still, it was a good climb. Submitted by: porkypine |
