Date Hiked: 28MAY07

Conditions: Trial up to split was fairly dry. No blow-downs or difficult river crossings. North Branch very muddy but free of snow. South Branch less muddy also free of snow. Trail was very well marked with blue blazes but some of the trail signs were gone.

Special Required Equipment: Gaiters were useful becuse of mud and water. Poles helpful as always.

Comments: Great hike. Did not see anyone the entire time. Very beutiful. The Mahousic area is so much more wild and rugged than nearby ranges. For Tolkien buffs out there, I call the area Merkwood.
