Trail: North Brother via Marston Trail

Date Hiked: 06/20/2007

Conditions: Trail was in pretty good shape. Up until the second Mount Coe trail junction. After that the trail over to North Brother is an erosion nightmare till you break through the treeline. There were places where the trench was up to my waist.

Special Required Equipment: Nothing out of the ordinary.

Comments: BSP staff was out in force (especially with the nice weather the previous 2 days on tableland). It poared on us most of the hike and the rain only exacerbated the bad section at the upper end over to North Brother. No VFTT but can't get it all the time. The trails in BSP were all quite well marked with blue paint (except for the AT) and one would have a tough time getting offtrail with the markings. Quite a difference in philosophy between state officials and those at the NFS.
