Trail: OJI, COE, South Brother

Date Hiked: 22-Jul-2007

Conditions: OJI trail was ***VERY*** muddy for the first half. The wooden planks used to avoid the water / mud were ***VERY*** slippery (almost like ice!). We avoided as many of the wooden walkways as possible. OJI slide was harder than we expected - lots of loose gravel and water towards the top. COE slide was wet more towards the bottom and it was very slippery on the wet area. The higher up, the drier. Blowdowns in many areas along the trails but nothing that gave you too much trouble. Bugs were pretty bad even with bug dope. Once you got up higher they seemed a little better.

Comments: The day couldn't have been much nicer. Views were fantastic. Only saw two people on the trails all day.

Long day of hiking and long drive back to So. NH. but worth every min of it!
