Trail: Boundary Mt., from North Date Hiked: 8/5/07 Conditions: Very clean and dry, no blowdowns and easy to foolow the ATV Trails. Excellent views from the path and a very clear day and good views south through the trees at the canister. Special Required Equipment: Poles for a quick descent on ATV Trails (fairly steep but good footings) Comments: A beautiful day and hike (temp in the 70's with alight breeze. I basically followed papa bears directions from the web and had no problem. When you do get to the gravel pit parking lot, the ATV trail that you want is the one at the lower right corner of the pit. All of his road milages in his description where right on, but plan on alot more travel time than planed on to get through the border and ranger registration. You might have to explane at the border where and what you are doing and the ranger at the park gate was very helpful. The U.S. border guard was not as amused about my hike when I came back over the border and be careful not to cross over the international line? I was asked If I had done this, and I'm not totally sure, but probably did to get to the canister. A great short hike (2/3 hours rt.) for a very out of the way hike. Submitted by: Dave Beck |
