Date Hiked: 8-16

Conditions: some varied conditions today..climb up from CVR steep and rough..nice stretch along cirque..as you approach Sugarloaf side trail some mud..trail over to Spauling easy going..descended via road and Scoot steep in places

Special Required Equipment: pole...water on this dry ridge..wind protection on top as you could barely stand..

Comments: Oover the hill Hikers Maine adventure ends on brisk and beautiful day..spotted car at Sugarloaf and drove out CVR to the iron bridge..stream crossing easy on plank..steep ascent to shoulder of Sugarloaf but most of the rest of the climb to Spaulding easy with a few mud spots..no view there to speak of...headed back to Sugarloaf side trail and came upon lila..Diane..and Sue and we exchanged some stories..they warned of wind up above and as we nearde summit ridge we donned wind jackets etc..very gust..could barely stand at the cairn..enjoyed lunch in the Summit building..hike down took no time..took the road awhile then a pretty nice herd path down scoot over to Windrow..spectacular views in all directions from sugarloaf..and excellent finish to our week of hiking in Maine..Silverfox...Grumpy Gran..Native Lady..Silent Sam..and Steve
