Trail: Boundary Peak from Woburn, Quebec Date Hiked: 8/27/2007 Conditions: From the border with Quebec at Maine 27 follow PQ Rt. 161 for about 3 miles into Woburn, PQ. Turn left onto PQ Rt. 212. Follow this for about 2 miles and turn left onto a dirt road at a sign labeled "ZEC Louise Gosford". Follow the dirt road 3.8 miles to a gatehouse on your left. Turn left into the parking lot in front of the gate, park and go in to register and pay $5 per a permit plus $2 for each additional person not counting the driver. Buy one of their trail maps for $2 as it may be usefull. Ridgerunner's driections from the internet were perfect: Proceed on dirt road past the gate, set your odometer to 0 miles At 0.7 miles - Stop sign: go stratight across the intersection. At 3.8 miles - pass Mont Gosford trailhead on left. At 5.7 miles - cross over bridge At 6.2 miles - cross over bridge At 6.3 miles - Y fork: go left (right side has a gate) At 7.5 miles - Intersection: go right At 8.3 miles - park at gravel pit. The gravel pit will be on your left and a very rough road will continue straight. Just where this rough road continues on the far side of the pit turn right onto a rough ATV trail; immediately cross a stream and head uphill very steeply to the border cut. Follow the border cut left to the summit. Special Required Equipment: Sun screen for the border cut. A copy of the US or Canadian topo map. Comments: I have done this hike two times previously from the US side. Ignoring the travel time to get to the area this route through Quebec makes what was one of the most difficult of the 100 highest into one of the easiest. Whoever was there before us tightened the canister so tight two of us couldn't get it open. Submitted by: BagpiperJohn |
