Trail: Boundary Peak from ZEC Louise Gosford - CORRECTION
Date Hiked: Aug. 26, 2007
Conditions: As previously described.
Special Required Equipment: At least $5 to get into the ZEC, as Bagpiper John describes. A passport for Can. and US Customs.
Comments: My finger slipped in typing "Aug. 27" yesterday - Steve and I hiked this Sunday. That means I'm the likely "canister-tightener" of Bagpiper John's TC for his hike yesterday (since no one else was in the parking area or driving in when we left).
I couldn't open the canister either, until I realized that it was unthreaded, so you need to pull, not turn. That worked easily. There was some water inside, so I did make sure the cover was securely back on, but no more so than I found it.
After my post, I noticed another from a few weeks ago by Dave Beck. A big month for Boundary, it seems. That $2 map is worth it, I'd say (although I got mine free from buckyball1), as it is attractive and in color, and shows the different hiking trails to nearby Mt. Gosford. The dirt road to the gravel pit - which was rougher than I'd expected - is "Ch. de la Grive" on it. Helpful and friendly Gerard, who was in charge at the ZEC headquarters Sunday, will also give you directions.
