Trail: Katahdin: Pamola-Baxter-Hamlin Loop Date Hiked: 9/8/07 Conditions: Trails all in good condition. Crowds on Pamola and Baxter Peaks. Weather started out cloudy and windy, with thick blowing fog on the Knife Edge and summits, but it cleared and got sunny in the afternoon. Special Required Equipment: Plenty of water for this long loop. Good boots with stiff soles and ankle support for the extensive rocky terrain. Comments: A terrific Katahdin "Grand Slam" despite sketchy weather in the morning.
