Trail: Puzzle Mountain via Grafton Loop Trail

Date Hiked: 10/16/20007

Conditions: Good footing (weather was dry); well-blazed

Special Required Equipment: No special equipment

Comments: A mixed bag hike, but well worth doing. First half goes through a mainly deciduous forest, which I found somewhat tedious, though some may find soothing. When the deciduous woods changes abruptly to primarily evergreen, the hike becomes varied and interesting. Woods become rock slabs, then to easy rock scrambling to the southern summit. Gorgeous views of Grafton Notch mountains & white mountains beyond. Well-blazed, but care must be taken to follow the trail, especially the second half descending. Portions of the trail are narrow and leaf-obscured, and occaasionally blend in with the surrounding woods.
