Trail: E Osceola from Kanc via Greely Pond Date Hiked: 17 Nov 2007 Conditions: Half inch fresh powder at trailhead, gradually increasing with altitude to perhaps half a foot on the ridge. (Pretty well trodden now.) Plenty of puddles on Greely Pond Tr (but also lots of bridges). Wet spots on E Osceola trail just starting to get icy; ice still wet and "soft" but that may change as temperatures tomorrow expected to be colder. Special Required Equipment: Yaktraks - recommended . . . . Poles - very helpful Comments: Majority of folks were bare booting, but some reported slipping. One couple wore crampons on descent, but this looked unsafe to me given lack of snow. Yaktraks proved ideal. Still slipped once due to ice buildup on soles of boots after crossing a streamlet.
