Trail: Mts. Percival & Morgan via Loop Date Hiked: 17-Nov-2007 Conditions: Used the following trails for loop hike: Mt. Percival Trail, Crawford-Ridgepole Trail, and Mt. Morgan Trail. The majority of this trek was on trail that was free of snow & ice. However, approaching the summits and on the ridge between Mts. Percival & Morgan, there were occasional small patches of ice, and maybe as much as 1.5 inches of snow. But, all this was very manageable without foot traction devices. Also, perhaps it should be noted that there were a few segments of the Mt. Morgan Trail that had considerable running water and mud. Special Required Equipment: About the only thing special needed is water proof boots, especially for the Mt. Morgan Trail.
Comments: Wind-chill in the negative numbers and cloud-obscured views were predicted today for the higher summits north of the notches. So, Zman and I opted to do a lower elevation hike south of the notches. We avoided the negative-number wind chill, but of course our views to the higher summits north of the notches were still obscured. However, we did get some nice views to the south over Squam Lake.
