Trail: Mt. Lafayette, OBP and Greenleaf Trails

Date Hiked: 11/17/07

Conditions: About 6" semi-packed powder snow throughout. Insignificant amounts of ice both below and above treeline.

Special Required Equipment: Gaiters, trekking poles, warm clothes--and a camera! Crampons could be brought, but are not necessary as of this writing.

Comments: Went with a group, barebooted the whole way up and back down, eschewing the ridge traverse (other group members doing the traverse/Falling Water reported not using crampons). Summit was cooooooold, windy, and just barely in the clouds much of the day. 3:20 up, 2:50 down (incl. 30 mins waiting at hut). My 3rd time up Lafayette in winter conditions, and the first with halfway decent views!!
