Trail: Mt. Piper, South Piper, Mt. Belknap Date Hiked: 11/18/07 Conditions: I took the White Trail to the col between Belknap and Piper, and headed along the ridge towards South Piper. I was surprised to see snow blanketing the woods right from the parking at the top of the carriage road! There was maybe 3 or 4 inches along the ridge and mountain tops, and I even had to duck under snow laden branches a few times! On the way over to Belknap and then coming down the Green Trail there were quite a few ice flows which made for tricky footing. Special Required Equipment: Traction devices would have been handy coming down Belknap. Comments: The section of tail going across the Pipers is more fun, but the view of Mt. Washinton shining in the late afternoon sun from the Belknap fire tower was pretty nice. Submitted by: Sam's Dad and Molly dog |
