Trail: Lincoln & Lafayette (Falling Waters/Franconia Ridge/OBP

Date Hiked: November 19, 2007

Conditions: Water crossings were low enough but the stones were icy. Crossings up higher near the falls were reason for caution. Above falls trails broken out but snow is loose, like walking on beach sand at times. Ridge in great shape with drifting in select spots. OBP is in good shape, ice on rare occasions.

Special Required Equipment: From just above the first water crossings I put on Stabilicers and kept them on throughout the rest of the day, although they could have been removed on the descent after second Agony.

Comments: We reversed this trip because we got a late start and I didn't want to come down the icy sections of the Falling Waters Trail in the dark and I'm glad we did. These sections are rough at times and once we even thought about turning back. Beautiful blue skies throughout the afternoon and a great sunset on the descent.
