Trail: Passaconoway via Dicey's Brook Trail

Date Hiked: 11/24/07

Conditions: Only a little scratchy snow left on middle section of trail (long ledge ascending well after the brook crossing). What little there is is now hard-packed and crusty, with ice underneath. Frozen waterfalls at the top parts of the trail, though. Brook crossing fairly easy, just bushwhack off to the right until you find an easier route.

Special Required Equipment: I think I could have barebooted all the way, with a little care, but I happily used my instep crampons, and I saw others using stabilicers, which were all very helpful.

Comments: Thanks to forum posters for excellent directions to Ferncroft. 2.5 hours drive from Cambridge (MA) via 93, Ashland exit, 25, 113, 113A.
