Trail: Passaconaway & Square Ledge via Kanc trails

Date Hiked: Nov. 24

Conditions: Practically no snow but occaisional icy spots several trails make stabilicers better than bare boots.Oliverian Brook brook crossings were pretty easy -- some rocks are ice covered but there is little water, so we didn't have any trouble. Square Ledge Branch and Square Ledge Trails were mostly bare of snow and ice, making for easy going. Passaconaway Cutoff and the Walden Trail had several icy spots so traction would be helpful (I was able to bareboot with care, but stabilicers or creepers would be better.)

Special Required Equipment: Carried snowshoes and crampons but did not use either. HikerBob had creepers on for most of the icy spots and did better than me in bareboots.

Comments: A nice bit of redlining... Square Ledge is definitely worth the trip, it has great views. However, we were glad we decided to go up it, as descent down to the Square Ledge Branch trail would have been tough on the knees.
