Date Hiked: 11/24/07

Conditions: 6-8" powder bottom to top. Several tricky water crossings on Unknown Pond Trail. No visible trail markings on Unknown Pond; we followed tracks of another hiker who evidently was very familiar with the trail.

Special Required Equipment: Hiker ahead of us used standard boots, and evidently made the trip without difficulty. We were happy to be wearing Stabilicers, especially when stepping on ice-covered stones to cross streams. Everyone used poles.

Comments: Our 48th 4000 footer! Glorious day; magnificent views of the Presidentials from the Horn, and on the descent from Unknown Pond in the gathering dusk.
