Trail: Esther from ASRC Date Hiked: Oct 21, 2007 Conditions: Dry to the top of the old Marble Mtn. lift line. Progressively muddier & sloppy trail from there to Look Out and on to the summit of Esther. No trace of any the snow or ice of the previous week's reports. Violent wind gusts on an otherwise beautifully clear October day. Warm enough to hike in shorts and a tee-shirt. Special Required Equipment: A chainsaw for the few assorted blowdowns would have been a nice accessory. Comments: Pity about the demise of the old ski trail system and Lookout summit lodge! I spoke with someone this morning who had some great memories of the upper rope tows and the ski lodge. All that remains today are a few faded signs and an old toboggan shelter.
