Date Hiked: 11/3/07

Conditions: Went up from the Krump Hill side (south of Halcott). Steep but very easy bushwack conditions (we got skunked on Fir last outing - the blowdowns slowed us down to the point of running out of time) - seems like it was the perfect sort of day for it: good visibility, no vegetation (i.e. nettles!!!!!), and relatively cool and dry. Found the cannister pretty quickly and easily - great navigation by Flammeus, and Halia's eagle eye :) Big Mistake coming down: took the compass reading after heading way off course, and never corrected enough. We ended up with a long road walk - not a big deal this time but a massive dose of humble pie to chew on all the way back. Thank Halia for saying "how far wrong could we be?" Pretty dang far!

Special Required Equipment: None - just use the stuff you bring! Or if you hike with us, maybe headlamps.

Comments: Halcott's actual summit is quite small - a little bump that requires really scanning carefully. We got skunked on Halcott last time because in summer the leaves obscure visibility (and because blackberry brambles and nettles obscured clear thinking).
