Trail: Whittenberg-Cornell-Slide Mtn

Date Hiked: 11/17/07

Conditions: Dusting to 2" of snow and many areas of thick ice throughout trail. Rock scrambles are particularly nasty due to ice covering. We were able to negotiate all without special equipment but definitely NOT for the faint of heart! Ascent of Slide Mtn requires care; rock skills will be most helpful. With all that said this is one of the best trails for diverse terrain and fabulous views in the East - you won't get bored on this one!

Special Required Equipment: As of this date, Yak Tracks would have helped but I would plan on crampons and an ice axe as the season progresses.
