Trail: Mt. Marcy

Date Hiked: 11/17-11/18

Conditions: Three of us left from the Garden lot heading to Slant Rock LT where we camped Saturday night. The trail was 2-3" of snow cover until about three miles in, then it just got deeper. About 18" of snow around Slant Rock. Sunday we headed up for Marcy. It was a rugged 1.7 miles to the junction with the Final .6 to the Summit, but not unattainable. The view toward the summit was incredible. Views from the summit, Amazing! We hiked back out via Mt. Van trail which was very well packed out to ADK loj and our car spot. All in all a great trip in the Daks.

Special Required Equipment: Carried crampons, snowshoes. Did not use either. Snowshoes would not have helped, due to deep snow on top of rocks and rough terrain. Crampons not needed but, some may have found them useful.
