Trail: Giant Ledge & Panther Mt.

Date Hiked: 11/18/07

Conditions: Trail conditions are very good. A few icy and water filled spots here and there, but all are negotiable. Snow cover (90 to 95%) begins at about elevation 2,700 feet. The northwest side of Giant Ledge has a few drift areas with an accumulated 8 to 10 inches snow depth. The top of Panther has about 3 to 5 inches of snow.

Special Required Equipment: The usual base layer, GTX shell, and GTX (waterproof) boots. Gaiters were very useful. Brought along the light weight 6 point crampons, but they were not needed.

Comments: Low use of the trail this day; observed only 3 people returning from Panther. Overall, a great hike.
