Trail: Giant via roaring brook

Date Hiked: 11/24/07

Conditions: Light snow from parking area, turning to hardpack and ice quite quickly. From 2500' and up it was mostly ice or deeper snow (6-8"). The first water crossing was a little difficult. Some minor blowdown from the ice a few days before.

Special Required Equipment: Some kind of traction device needed. I used crampons from 2500' and up. Stabilicers might work. Carried snowshoes, but nothing deep enough to use them.

Comments: Very cold in the morning to start. Was expecting a bad day weather wise...but it quickly turned into a beautiful one. Probably 25-30 degrees up top, no wind and 100 mile views in every direction. All that scraping on the ice was worth it today!
