Trail: Mt Ellen and Mt Abraham via Long Trail

Date Hiked: 3/3/07

Conditions: Up the ski slope at Ellen, no problem; good to check in with ski patrol first, however. LT had sort of been broken out, but lost trail after Cutts Peak; Fred sank in to a trap 2 feet above his head. Made it to Lincoln Peak, then had to break out LT to Abraham, not much trouble.

Special Required Equipment: Snowshoes, but even 30" ones won't keep you afloat if you get off the trail much. No crampons. Wind gear and Goretex because trees are loaded. 6-8 feet snow on ground

Comments: Butt slid and walked down Sugarbush south trails (Mt Lincoln) after lift closed @ 4 pm. No problem, ski patrol friendly, but one guy thought we should have a hiking pass, but when he checked with base, they said never mind.
