Trail: Killington via Sherburne Pass and Long Trail Date Hiked: 4/7/07 Conditions: Trail to Pico Camp was broke out but was an untouched 10-12" of powder from there until junction with Bucklin. The usual few blowdowns to deal with. Special Required Equipment: Snowshoes recommended but bareboot OK on cold days. Postholing will definitely be an issue as the large base thaws. Final approach to the top as always an ice floe. Comments: January conditions in April...trail was obscured by skier and snowboarder efforts near the ski areas which made for some whacking efforts, we were off trail many times. All in all a fun day in VT with UFC. Limited views due to low clouds and flurries. Submitted by: dRitter |
