Trail: Weathersfield Trail Mt. Ascutney

Date Hiked: 4/8/07

Conditions: sticky snow in sunshine areas, beginning third especially, then drier and slipperier on north and western exposures and in pines regions. Trail no blowdowns etc. Snow at it's deepest was approx 6-9 inches near top.

Special Required Equipment: I used stabilicers all the way to Gus's overlook, (stopped here..been there done that kind of thing, just passing time in the woods). Used snowshoes down to the Cascade overlook, then returned to stabilicers. I don't like boot slippage...two hikers ahead of me did fine bear booting.

Comments: It was a beautiful day in the snow which is non existent in CT(maybe not after this night), love tracking nature, will miss the snow dearly very soon. Upper most parking lot is blocked off...parking by gate is good for maximum 4-5 cars without ending up on the road which may impede the nearby homeowner.
