Trail: Butterfield and Signal Mtn. bushwhacks

Date Hiked: 04/29/07

Conditions: No trail. The approach road was gated, with a mixture of mud and snow patches. The bushwhack up the N face of Butterfield was a mixture of bare wet ground and snow patches, while the S slope of Signal was snow-free up until 3100' or so (but covered above that elevation).

Special Required Equipment: Snowshoes (I barebooted the entire route, but snowshoes would make for much easier going). Topo maps: essential! Compass: highly recommended GPS: recommended, but not necessary

Comments: A dreary day, two dreary county highpoints. Did not see any moose, though I ran into lots of, ahem, "evidence"...
