Trail: At from Rt. 4, Rutland to Rt. 12, Woodstock Date Hiked: 7-29 and 7-30-07 Conditions: Trails in good shape. A few blowdowns along with a few mud holes here and there, but nothing major. Special Required Equipment: Lots of water and sunscreen! Boy was it hot and humid!
Comments: A nice, if uneventful, section on the AT. The first 5 miles on Sunday were quite nice--we ate lunch in Gifford Woods State Park--seems like a great place to stay--and then enjoyed the walk along Kent Pond. Very scenic. The climb up Quimby was steep and made us sweat! On Monday, the walk was pretty mellow, and we enjoyed lunch at The Lookout with great views and a few ripe raspberries too. Yum! A good number of thru-hikers out heading north, who were fun to chat with. Submitted by: Sparkplug & Snowman |
