Trail: Mansfield via LT, Profanity, and Hazelton Trails

Date Hiked: 0801

Conditions: Lt mostly in good shape but rougher higher up..Profanity trail had some huge steps and a few slippery spots ..Noze dive ski trail down to Hazelton had great footing but very steep..Hazelton suprisingly wet in spots..long stretch towards the bottem on great footbed through hardwoods,,interestin knife edge type trail

Special Required Equipment: heat required water and food today..pole helped in rough spots..hat along the ridge..excellent spring on auto road just below southern cliffs

Comments: Fine day on one of New Englands classic hikes.. Rather steep on the ascent and descent but the ridgewalk from chin to forehead terrific..Lots of poeple out today..most from the autoroad and gondola but many climbers as well..Saw one thru-hiker who was totally into it..having a great time. Terrific day with Ellen and Mary who finished their VT 4ks..off to Maine!! I was a little unsure of swim holes nearby so we opted for hots showers at the state park---not a bad thing--and a wine toast and dinner in Woodstock NH on the way home
