Trail: Mt Mansfield via LT, Profanity, Haselton

Date Hiked: 08/27/2007

Conditions: Fairly dry, trails clear of debris, steep up and down

Special Required Equipment: Poles helpful

Comments: Started in the Stowe Gondola parking lot, 108 North to Long Trail. Beaustiful day and conditions for a hike. LT is a steep and steady incline, so you gain a lot of vertical quickly. Profanity Trail also steep with some tough spots for shorter legs! Not sure if LT is the better options here, as I haven't taken that route. Took LT north to the Chin for lunch. Some clouds had rolled in, but nothing serious. Too many people made for a fairly slow walk back across the ridge, and then we took the autoroad to the Octagon deck for views of the notch, and then Haselton down. Haselton is very steep for a long period, but also gave me great views of the gladed skiing that can be had in there. It becomes a nice walk for a while, and then over before you know it. 2:20 up to the chin, 2:45 across and down to car.
