Trail: AT / River Road to Chateaugay Rd Date Hiked: 10 November 2007 Conditions: Excellent, dry, frozen. Dusting of five-day-old snow above 2200 feet, but only on leaves not in flat contact with ground. Blazing good. Not even an inch, and because temps were in the 20s all day, everything is dry with good traction. Special Required Equipment: Orange vest for hunting season, gloves and headband for temps. Comments: Great hike. Saw two hunters and one road-walker. Chateaugay Road easily drivable from Barnard. The logging operation just south of the AT has a log yard across the class 4 road - probably shouldn't be attempted from the Chateaugay side. Temps in the 20s kept everything dry and hard.
