Trail: AT / River Road to Chateaugay Rd

Date Hiked: 10 November, 2007

Conditions: Excellent, dry, leafy. A light dusting of five-day-old crusty snow above 2000 feet where insulated by leaf-fall from the ground. Well-blazed.

Special Required Equipment: Safety-orange vest, touque and gloves.

Comments: Chateaugay Rd is a trip in itself. Class 4 road in from Barnard is in good shape. About 3/4 mile south of the AT crossing a logging operation would make it difficult to get to the trail by road from the Chateaugay side. Entire stretch of trail was dry, hard, with a nice treadway. Any mud spots were frozen stiff after a week of temps in the 20s.
