Trail: Mendon Date Hiked: 11/12/2007 Conditions: We followed the wood road up to the 3rd cairn. There, we saw a pink flag, but were too stupid to follow it, so we did our own bushwack, since it was not easy to follow herdpaths, since the ground was almost covered with thin snow. We got into some spruces, tough going. Saw a lot of moose tracks and poops (fresh). Finally got to the first summit, and there we were able to follow more or less a herdpath. On the real summit, in the register, we saw that nobody was there since October 14, almost a month ago. To go down, from the false summit, we followed pink ribbons carefully and it took us 20 minutes to go down right to the 3rd cairn instead of 50 minutes to go up! Special Required Equipment: Compass. Orange cap for hunters. Comments: Saw no hunter, but a few trucks! Submitted by: Chabela & Bumble Bee |
